Earlier known as the State of Mysore, the erstwhile principality was renamed as Karnataka state in 1973. The capital of Karnataka is Bengaluru (Bangalore) which is the largest city of the state and has also become the biggest IT hub in India. Talking about its history, evidences of Neolithic and Megalithic cultures have been found here. The evidences of Indus Valley Civilization are also found in this state. This park was created in 1931 and in 1973 it was declared a Tiger Reserve under the Project Tiger initiative of the government. It is also known for its sandal wood tree jungles and some other rare species of plants.
